Shakespeare and Soldiers
 

The Department of Theatre is using Shakespeare to help military personnel, veterans and family members find new ways to process, understand and give expression to their experiences as they navigate the transition from soldier to civilian. Learn More >>

“Our goal is to build a safe and creative space where participants can find new ways of expressing themselves and develop new frames of reference for what they’ve experienced,” said Assistant Professor Kevin McClatchy.
 


Student Veterans
 

Gretchen Klingler, a third-year student majoring in anthropology and Arabic, was selected by the Student Veterans of America to join an elite group from across the country. Klingler is president of the Ohio State Vets 4 Vets and Ohio State's first undergraduate to be named a Tillman Military Scholar. Learn More >>

 

Khalida Hendricks joined the Army after high school graduation. Since then, she has accrued college credit from nine different institutions — all at various Army assignment locations. A Tillman Scholar, Hendricks is currently a graduate student in the particle physics program. Learn More >>


 

Kendal Searer, a biology student from Cincinnati, is president of Ohio State’s Pets for Vets, helping to connect veterans with shelter animals. She is leading the first Mutt Strut, on Oct. 29 to raise money to pay for training and food for shelter pets. Learn More >>

Vets 4 Vets Flag Ceremony
Ohio State’s Vets 4 Vets will be on the South Oval Thursday, Nov. 9, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to display more than 2,000 mini yard flags, representing every Ohio State student, faculty and staff veteran. Come out to plant a flag in honor of a veteran or service member in your life. Learn More >>

United States Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus
The U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus — the Musical Ambassadors of the Army — will present a free concert Monday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. in Weigel Auditorium. Learn More >>
