Habashi named assistant dean for diversity, equity and inclusion
Meara Habashi has joined the College of Arts and Sciences as the assistant dean for diversity, equity and inclusion. Habashi comes to Ohio State from the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science where she worked with leaders across the university and the broader field of engineering to create a community that was truly inclusive, on campus and beyond.
Habashi has a PhD in Social Psychology from Purdue University and takes a research-based approach to provide innovative and effective solutions to issues of equity across higher education. She has built a diverse and extensive portfolio of administration, research, teaching, service, and engagement focused on dismantling systemic bias that serves as obstacles for women and members of underrepresented groups. Her research focuses on the internal and external obstacles underrepresented individuals face in educational and career settings.
As the assistant dean for diversity, equity and inclusion, she will support the college’s efforts related to faculty recruitment and inclusive excellence in close collaboration with Korie Little Edwards, associate dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Habashi looks forward to working with the college community to advance our commitment to inclusive excellence.
