Calbert named assistant dean for faculty affairs
Toni Calbert was recently appointed assistant dean of faculty affairs in the College of Arts and Sciences. She joined the college last year as a faculty affairs specialist. Dr. Calbert previously worked in the Engineering Education Department of the College of Engineering as a graduate administrative associate and then program assistant. She supported faculty development and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Calbert has a PhD in English from The Ohio State University where her research and teaching focused on contemporary Black literature, popular culture, and speculative fiction. Before coming to Ohio State, she worked as a corporate attorney and earned a JD from Columbia Law School and a BA in Government from Harvard University. She is originally from Cleveland, OH.
As the assistant dean for faculty affairs, she will support ASC faculty through the college’s promotion and the promotion and tenure processes in close collaboration with Shari Speer, associate dean for faculty affairs. Calbert looks forward to working with faculty at all levels across the college to advance faculty development.
