The Center for American Sign Language and Deaf Equity promotes the inclusion of diverse perspectives, languages, and cultures essential for global citizenship. By providing culturally and linguistically accessible learning spaces, the Center serves as a hub to connect and support individuals who are Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, Hard of Hearing, CODA (children of deaf adults) and ASL language learners. Outreach activities seek to engage Deaf and Signing communities in developing best practices for accessible cultural and social student experiences in preparation for their future. To meet the rapidly increasing demand for qualified ASL instructors, the Center utilizes the power of virtual learning to minimize the barrier to accessing teacher training, which is provided through the online ASL Teaching Certificate.
